What is Hazardous Waste?  Those chemicals and solids that should not go to the land fill, such as non latex paint, batteries, electronics, engin oil and auto fluids,  florescent bulbs with murcury, medical sharps, pesticide and herbicides, old smoke detectors and other hazardous waste.

Hosehold Battery Recycling

The Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission (GCMPC) is providing free household battery recycling for employee and public use. Please see the attached picture of the collection containers along with information on acceptable battery types.

Battery recycling collection containers can be found in the following locations:
  • lobby of the Admin Building
  • 3rd floor of the Admin Building near the entrance to the HR Department
  • main floor of the Courthouse near the information desk
  • main floor of McCree near the staircase
